How I Work
Here's an overview about my approach to caring for pets, including notes on medical care, training and security cameras.
Working With Me
I'm quiet and introverted, which pets tend to respond to really well. This approach allows me to focus fully on the pets I'm caring for, helping them feel safe and comfortable. Please don't mistake this for lack of skill - I bring experience, care and professionalism to everything I do.
I work best with clients who trust my judgement and respect my methods, and who are comfortable giving me the space to care for your pets in my calm and considered way.
A Note on Medical Care & Training
My focus in on providing safe, calm and attentive care for pets. I can administer oral and topical medications as instructed, but I am not able to provide invasive medical treatments such as eye washes, injections or other veterinary procedures.
It is very important that I have the full picture of your pet's needs and medical history, provided on the forms for prospective new clients and discussed at the meet & greet. If you are a routine client, please keep me updated on any changes to your pet's health. This helps me prepare properly and ensure I can provide safe, appropriate care. If I am expected to provide care outside of my training or scope without being informed, I may need to end the service early to keep your pet safe.
I also do not provide training or behaviour modification. I will give basic commands (if the pet already knows them) and ensure pets are safe and happy, but I will not enforce "firmness" or attempt to modify behaviour beyond my scope. My goal is to provide care in a calm, stress-free environment rather than to train or discipline.
A Note on Security Cameras
I think pet cameras are a great idea - they can give peace of mind and help you keep an eye on your pets. I always do my best work regardless of whether cameras are present. That said, as an introvert, I find it easier and more comfortable to work when I feel trusted and not watched. I'm not asking you to turn cameras off, but I wanted to share this so you know a little about how I work best.
